Despite the rich literature on the proton reduction activity of cobaloximes, little is known about the mechanism by which they evolve hydrogen. My research focuses on probing the bifurcation between homo- and heterolytic H-H bond formation mechanisms via kinetic studies of the microscopic-reverse reaction: H2 oxidation in the presence of base to form acid. This research is being undertaken as part of CCI-Solar.
While my current research lacks metal-carbon bonds, I maintain a strong interest in organometallic chemistry, an interest which began during my undergraduate research under the tutelage of the late Greg Hillhouse.
